Audio Engineer, Music Producer and Singer-songwriter Luis Ger, born and raised in Mexico City is now living and successfully working in Los Angeles.

His interest in music and audio developed when he was 7, when he found a tape of the The Beatles Hits 1967–1970. Nevertheless, he didn’t start writing and producing songs until ten years later when the coalition of his poetry and music was imminent.

When he was 22, after learning guitar, he studied in the SACM Academy where was be a pupil of the Multi-Latin-Grammy-winning Monica Vélez (Camila, Reik) and where formally learnt how to write songs. When he was 23 he moved to La Habana, Cuba where met and work along-side the Multi-Latin-Grammy-nominee Jessee Suárez Ramos (Omara Portuondo, Prince Royce), who became his mentor and taught him the ins and outs of Music Production. His time in Cuba turned out to be key for his career not only technically but in forging his musical identity too.

Currently, Luis Ger lives in Los Angeles, where he just released his first EP “Quien te Viera”.

¿How did you start to make music?

I started playing piano when I was seven years old and I also used to write poetry. At some point both, music and poetry came together and I created my first songs.

You lived in Cuba and that made your music what it is today, why?

Cuba opened my ears to a different way of listening and feeling music. It was a full immersion to a foreign culture.

Why did you decide to pursue your music career in LA?

The music industry in LA is more varied and wide. It just seems like everything in music is happening here all the time.

What inspired you to compose your EP “Quien te Viera!”?

I wrote those songs the first months of the pandemic. I had been living here in Los Angeles for two years. For me those times were very confusing, I felt like I was living in an apocalyptic scenario and I was far from my home and my family. When these feelings of vulnerability and confusion harbored me, the only thing that came to mind was my Mexico, my home, that's why I decided to pay tribute to my roots with my EP "Quién te Viera!" And that's why I decided to do it in the mariachi genre.

Are you going to make music in English?

I’m not sure, I’m producing music for English speaking artists and writers, but I don’t know if I’ll be singing in English any time soon.

What do you have coming up?

I like to expand my skillset and continue to find new collaborators, I really love challenges and working with people from different backgrounds keeps my creativity flowing.
