Being a female and a Latina in an male dominated industry might be a tough job for many of us. But not for Cecilia Salguero.

With over 20 years of experience in the advertising and film business, Cecilia is now an award winning producer and an example to many aspiring young women who dream about succeeding in this competitive male dominated industry.

Born and raised in Argentina, Cecilia started working in advertising at the age of 19 and by the age of 25 she had climbed her way to the top to become the international producer of “Salado Films Advertising” a well-known award winning agency from Uruguay.

Today Cecilia’s work has been recognized internationally and she has crossed over from advertising to television and film production with credits that include two documentary series for TV and one feature documentary for both Netflix and HBO Max. It is important to remark that in the struggle to battle for gender equality, the television and film industry are in need of more powerful influential women like Cecilia. According to exclusive marketing week 2021 Career and Salary Survey data reveals the marketing profession has an overall mean gender pay gap for full time workers of 23%. However, despite the imbalances the advertising and film industry face, Cecilia is not under any circumstance intimidated.

“I think my biggest strength is staying calm and with a clear head in stressful situations. I am able to make decisions without panicking even under some of the hardest challenges”

Stress is a normal part of our generation. In fact we live in a culture where exhaustion is viewed as a symbol of status, as if overworking ourselves to extreme fatigue was a synonym of excellence. While on set, pressure gets real. Actors, directors and the whole crew are often running on a limited timeline, and things can easily get tense. Having the ability to remain calm takes a lot of courage and confidence, and it is extremely important to maintain the general calm for better results.

Salguero also has contributed in the development of up and coming directors who she believed would succeed due to their talent. She had the vision and the solidarity to guide them and today their names keep resonating in the business.

“The secret to success in this industry is a combination of very hard work, determination and good luck”
